Insurance Advisor Job: The Insurance Advisor will collect and review contractor certificates of insurance (COI) submitted electronically through a data management system and maintain active communication with the contractors if additional information is required. Once the final review of the required information is complete, the Insurance Advisor will alert the Client and provide an approval status based on the Client’s requirements.

The successful candidate will work with Safety Management Group to support a large utility Client in administering their contractor insurance review program.

The Insurance Advisor will collect and review contractor certificates of insurance (COI) submitted electronically through a data management system and maintain active communication with the contractors if additional information is required. Once the final review of the required information is complete, the Insurance Advisor will alert the Client and provide an approval status based on the Client’s requirements.

The successful candidate will work with Safety Management Group to support a large utility Client in administering their contractor insurance review program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist contractors with the insurance submittal process
  • Operate as subject matter expert in the data management system
  • Review contractor COIs (Certificate of Insurance)
  • Communicate with contractors for additional required information
  • Make recommendations for contractor qualification based on term requirements outlined by the Client
  • Conduct annual requalification of contract firms’ insurance certificate
  • Keep the Client properly informed of contractor insurance activities
  • Provide assistance and support to applicable Client personnel

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of insurance experience
  • Experience reviewing COIs (Certificate of Insurance)
  • Previous Underwriter experience
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of various state insurance laws
  • Property & Casualty license is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with commercial insurance policies and terminology
  • Ability to read insurance requirements in contracts
  • Customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Occasional travel may be required, estimated at 5%

Physical Demands Of The Job May Include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Manual dexterity is necessary for typing and other repetitive tasks
  • Must speak accurately and informally on the phone or in person
